Joseph J. Pelcheck, 84, of Flatonia, died June 4, 2014. Joseph was born Sept. 3, 1929 in Lansford, Pa. to the late John Pelcheck and Anna Adamcik Pelcheck. He was a mail carrier for the U.S. Postal Service and a Navy Veteran in the Korean Conflict. He was also a member of the Knights of Columbus and St. Michael’s Cahtolic Church in Lansford, Pa. for 80 plus years. Joseph is preceeded in death by a son-in-law, Wayne Alves on Nov. 1, 2009 and one sister, Rosalie Canzoneri and husband Sale and sister-in-law, Ethel Pelcheck. Survivors include his wife, Jean Pelcheck of Flatonia; one daughter, Patty Alves of Flatonia; two sons, Joseph Pelcheck, II and wife Margaret of Summit Hill, Pa. and Steven Pelcheck of Massachusetts, one brother, John Pelcheck of Allentown, Pa.; one sister, Mary Ann Yusella and husband Pete of Summit Hill, Pa.; four grandchildren, Kera Champion, Jospeh Pelcheck, III, Kirsten Pelcheck and David Pelcheck; six  greatgrandchildren, Zachary, Jonathan, Carly, Riley, Joseph, IV,  and Joy; one aunt, Helen Zenko; and numerous cousins, nieces and newphews. Graveside services were held Saturday, June 14, 2014 at 10:30 a.m. at the Cistern Public Cemetery. The Father Eddie Winkler officiated. Family requests donations be made to a charity of one’s choice. Smith Funeral Home in Flatonia was in charge of arrangements.
