A Joyful Juneteeth

A downtown parade Saturday highlighted what was a weekend full of Juneteenth events in La Grange. Juneteenth, also known as Emancipation Day, dates back to June 19 1865, when word first reached Texas that the Civil War was over and the enslaved were now free. Here are some images of Saturday’s parade, including a 1971 class reunion float.
