Joseph Louis Koch, III, resident of Crystal City passed away Wednesday morning, Oct. 9, 2019, in Crystal City.

Joe was born Jan. 11, 1974 in Uvalde. He lived in Knippa and Hondo before the family moved to Clear Lake City-Houston.

Joe attended Clear Lake schools graduating from Clear Lake High School in 1992. He worked for Deer Park Construction and later moved to Crystal City where he started JKoch Building Systems. He became involved in County projects, particularly the municipal golf course. In 2017 he took over the management of the Carrizo Springs Municipal Golf Course and was in the process of refurbishing the golf course.

Joe was involved in community activities that mainly served the youth of the area. He was very much involved in 4-H and FFA activities serving in various capacities. This past summer he became involved with the Special Olympics and was instrumental in getting companies to donate golf bags and clubs for the kids to compete.

Joe is survived by his parents Joe and Shirley Koch of Clear Lake City, sisters Angela and husband Marty Jackson of League City and Sherri and husband Brad Bogan of Washington (Texas); his grandmother Ruth Chovanec of La Grange; brother-in-law Brendan Lyons of Houston. Uncle Joe was much loved by the Lyons kids Hallie, Jackson and Kendall; the Jacksons, Evelyn and Paul and the Bogan girls, Addie and Kaylin. Other family members – aunts and uncles, cousins and many friends.

He was preceded in death by his oldest sister Julie Lyons.

A Memorial Service was held at the Carrizo Springs Golf Course on Sunday, Oct. 13.

A Celebration of Life was held on Sunday, Oct. 19 in Clear Lake.
