George Charles Petras, 92, beloved father, grandfather and great-grandfather died July 15, 2014. George was born on Nov. 3, 1921 in Mullins Prairie to Gus and Bessie Adamcik Petras. George married Hilda Borovec on June 20, 1944 at Plum. George loved gardening and the outdoors, especially fishing. He was always anxious to “wet a line” whenever he could. He worked as a plant operator for a gravel material company most of his life and endured all types of harsh weather day and night. He was a good “straight domino” player, but enjoyed “42” also. He was a member of the Knights
of Columbus, the Holy NameSociety, VFW Post No. 5254 and  a veteran of World War II. He is survived by his two
sons, Daniel Petras and wife Linda, Thomas Petras and wife Melissa; six grandchildren, Brian and wife Wendy, Chris and wife Jennifer, Suzanne Wright and husband Sean, Jennifer, Candace, Shelby Zbranek and husband Jason and ten greatgrandchildren. He was preceded in death by his parents; brothers Edward and Ike; one sister, Helen; one daughter, Carol and his wife Hilda. Visitation is scheduled for Friday, July 18, 2014, from 8 a.m. until 6:30 p.m. at Fayette
Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange. The family will receive visitors from 5 to 6:30 p.m. Rosary will be recited at 6:30 p.m. Funeral services are scheduled for Saturday, July 19, 2014, at Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Grange at 10 a.m. Interment will follow in La Grange City Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to Sacred Heart Catholic Church in La Grange, the Holy Name Society or VFW Post No. 5254 in La Grange. Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange is in charge of arrangements
