Krakosky

Funeral services for Gladys Krakosky, 88, of Serbin are scheduled for 11 a.m. on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019 at St. Paul Lutheran Church in Serbin, Texas with Rev. John Schmidt officiating. Burial will follow in the church cemetery.

Visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 22, 2019 from 7 a.m. to 8 p.m. and on Saturday, Nov. 23, 2019 from 7 to 9 a.m at Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings. The Krakosky family will be present for visitation Friday evening from 5 to 7 p.m.

Gladys Krakosky was born on Jan. 7, 1931 at Serbin. She was called to her Savior’s side and eternal home on Monday, Nov. 18, 2019.

Gladys was the daughter of John August Kubsch and Olga Gersch Kubsch. She was baptized on Jan. 18, 1931 and then confirmed her faith on April 2, 1944. Gladys was an active and faithful member of St. Paul Lutheran Church where she was baptized, confirmed and married.

On Nov. 12, 1950, Gladys married Royce Krakosky. Their union as husband and wife was blessed by three daughters, Patricia, Barbara and Karen. Through their marriages, her family came to include Scott, Mark and Layne. Royce and Gladys lived in Houston for 45 years and were members of Mt. Olive Lutheran Church. She was an active volunteer in Ladies Aid, Quilting and the Good Samaritan Thrift Shop. Gladys enjoyed spending time with family, especially family reunions. Her favorite pastimes were cheering for the Houston Astros and her Texas Aggies.

Gladys was preceded in death by her parents, husband and brothers, John, Jr. and Fred, sister Bernice Malke, and great grandson, Graeme Martin.

She is survived by her three daughters and their spouses: Patricia and Scott Corrigan, Barbara and Mark Mayfield and Karen and Layne Brown. Gladys leaves six grandchildren: Ryan and Teresa Corrigan, Emily and Tim Martin, Amy and Andrew Merrill, Chris and Bethany Mayfield, Logan and Ashley Brown, and Hailey Brown. She also leaves seven great grandchildren: Ashley, Catherine and John Merrill, Chad and Samuel Corrigan and Lincoln and Payson Brown. Gladys had many cousins, nieces, nephews, friends and caregivers who were all very dear to her.

She never lost her sense of humor and wit, and always displayed her strong Christian faith. Her family is saddened by their loss, but joyous that she is at home with the Lord.
