County Leaders Support Recycling Center’s Continued Operation

County Judge Joe Weber said at a meeting last Wednesday that neither he nor the commissioners plan to scale back the county’s recycling program.

The remarks came in response to a story that appeared in the Record two weeks ago, in which the judge asked the commissioners what would happen if the county stopped the recycling program. The issue came up at the Commissioners’ meeting last Wednesday during discussion about a grant application for the Fayette County Recycling Center.

“I know there are some rumors about our recycling program being cancelled or put aside,” Weber said. “Let me be very clear about that: one of the best things we’ve got going for this county is our recycling program. As long as I’m the county judge, I will support our recycling center.
