Ludvik “Luke” Lester Kubecka

Ludvik “Luke” Lester Kubecka, 70, of Troup (formerly of Houston), died Friday, Aug. 15, 2014 at ETMC Specialty Hospital in Tyler. Luke was born in El Campo on Sept. 30, 1943, the son of Emil and Mary (Scotka) Kubecka. He married Gloria

Krenek on May 1, 1966 in Frelsburg. Luke was employed by Oak Farms Dairy in Houston as a refrigeration engineer for 48 years. His many hobbies included working cattle, hunting and fishing. He enjoyed doing all kinds of mechanic work. Luke was also an inventor producing them in his garage. Some of his inventions included a feeding tray for paraplegics and an air conditioning unit operated by using cooking oil. His greatest enjoyment was spending time with his family.

Luke was a member of the Knights of Columbus in Nada, Texas and a member of KJT. He is survived by his wife, Gloria of 48 years; son, Matthew Kubecka and wife, Ann Marie, of Troup; grandson, Collin Kubecka of Troup; brother, Joseph

Kubecka and wife, Joann, of Navasota; two sisters: Mary Anne Jones of Iola and Rose Schipula of Roanoke, Va.; two

sisters-in-law: Mildred Blinka and husband, Sidney, of Richmond and Dorothy Engelhardt and husband, Gilbert, of Needville; numerous nieces, nephews and cousins. He was preceded in death by his parents; brother, Frank Kubecka and wife, Pat; sister, Jan Labay and husband, Raymond; mother-in-law, Pearl Krenek and father-in-law, Leo Krenek.

Visitation will be held on Tuesday, Aug. 19, 2014 from 4 to 7 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Knesek Chapel, 207 Live Oak

St. in Fayetteville. A rosary will be recited at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Sts. Peter & Paul Catholic Church of Frelsburg, 1031 Church Lane in New Ulm at 10:30 a.m. on Wednesday, Aug. 20, 2014. Burial will follow at St. John the Baptist Catholic Cemetery in Fayetteville.
