County Political Campaign Match-Ups Set

The deadline to file for candidacy in the 2020 Republican and Democrat Primary elections passed Monday, Dec. 9, at 6 p.m. The only contested races for local office will take place in the Republican Primary.

Fayette County Sheriff Keith Korenek will face challenger Cody George of Flatonia in the Republican Primary. Korenek, who previously ran as a Democrat, switched to the Republican Party this year. Korenek has held office since 2004. George currently serves as a police officer with the Flatonia Police Department.
