A Circus In Our Own Backyard!
I was about 10 years old when a man and his family of two young girls came to Dobbins’ Place.
Dobbins’ Place was a beer joint/country store just across the road from our farm. This man arrived in a small one-axle travel trailer. He was a showman of sorts. He played outdoor movies, put on exhibitions with a bullwhip, stuck swords into a box with his wife inside and stuff like that. He also sold snow cones, popcorn, candy and soda.
