County Officials Criticized Over Handling of Dead Body

The brother of a woman who died on Interstate 10 in Flatonia criticized local officials at last Thursday’s Fayette County Commissioners Court meeting, calling the County’s handling of his late sister’s remains as “obscene.”

Brad Du Bose of West Columbia said his sister, Debbie Linebarger of Houston, was riding with her husband on Sunday, Dec. 1, from San Antonio where she recently underwent a medical procedure. Linebarger suffered a medical emergency on Interstate 10 in Flatonia. Fayette County EMS responded and began treating Linebarger, but she died at the scene.

“Here this elegant lady, business woman, horsewoman, wife, mother, grandmother, who had been dismissed from Texsan Hospital in San Antonio only hours before, fell dead and lay on the side of the road not eight to ten feet from passing traffic for over two hours,” Du Bose told the Commissioners.
