Flurry of Recent Fires Prompts Burn Ban

After grass fires erupted on both ends of the county Wednesday and Thursday of last week, county judge Ed Janecka put a county-wide burn ban in effect Thursday at 5 p.m. A formal declaration Restricting Outdoor Burning was added to this week’s commissioners court agenda. Bone-dry conditions on the ground were worsened by stiff south winds that made the situations more dangerous.
