Donald James

Donald James, 55, of La Grange died Sunday, Aug. 24, 2014 at South Austin Medical Center in Austin. Donald (Donnie) was born in Little Rock, Ark. on July 6, 1959, the son of Elizabeth Couch James. He married Trenda Kaye Thrasher on June 11, 1979 in San Angelo. Donnie was active in the oil and gas industries for several decades, including, owning his

own supply and rental company. He was an avid outdoorsman who loved fishing, raising livestock and planting an annual garden. One of his greatest joys was to entertain and provide for friends and loved ones. He is survived by two daughters: Jessica James of San Diego, Calif. and Kelsey James of Austin; mother-in-law, Shirley Thrasher of La Grange; sisterin- law, Vicki Blair and husband, Bobby, of Lubbock; three nieces and their husbands; numerous other relatives and friends; and beloved canine companion, Kye. He was preceded in death by his mother, Elizabeth James; father in law, Robert Richard Thrasher; and wife, Trenda Kaye James. Visitation will be held on Friday, Aug. 29, 2014 from 12 to 7 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Funeral Services will be held at First Presbyterian Church, located at 205 S. Franklin in La Grange, at 3 p.m. on Saturday, Aug. 30, 2014.
