Gholson

John William Gholson, 69, of Giddings was called home to be with his Lord on Sunday, Dec. 22, 2019.

John was born in Atwood, Kansas on July 6, 1950, the son of Wilburn Ralph “Bo” and Ethel Christine (Sandlin) Gholson. He married Sherrill Lynn Dockins on May 31, 1969 in Hamlin. John was a chief/ project inspector in the oil and gas industry and worked on numerous jobs all over the United States. In all of his travels, he met so many people and touched so many lives. He was an inspiration and a mentor to all of his inspectors.

John passed away the morning of Sunday, Dec. 22, 2019 at the Baylor Scott and White Medical Center in College Station.

John is survived by his wife, Sherrill Gholson of Giddings; only son, Michael and Kristy Gholson of Giddings; five grandchildren; three brothers-in-law, Russell Yarborough of Cheyenne, Wyoming, Wes Cummings of North Richland Hills, Texas, and Rick and Vee Dockins of Natalia, Texas; one sister-in-law, Carolyn and Larry Woodard of Crowell, Texas, and numerous beloved nieces, nephews, and cousins.

In keeping with John’s wishes, a private family service will be held at a later date.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Phillips and Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings.
