Charles Williams Sr., 95, of La Grange died Sunday, Dec. 29, 2019 at Care Inn Nursing Home in La Grange.

He was born Feb. 10, 1924 in La Grange to Theodore and Minnie (Ellis) Williams. He married Erassie (Thompson) Williams on Sept. 17, 1954. He was employed as a custodian at La Grange ISD, retiring in 1986. Charles was a deacon and member of Peaceful Rest Missionary Baptist Church in La Grange and served in the U.S. Navy as a Seaman 1C.

He was preceded in death by his wife, parents and his siblings.

He is survived by daughters, Esther Kelly of Giddings and Lesia Henderson of Houston; sons, Roger Hughley of Houston, Charles Williams Jr. of La Grange, Wayne Williams of Houston and Roy Williams of La Grange. He is also survived by 10 grandchildren and a host of great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services were held at St. Paul Evangelical Lutheran Church in La Grange at 11 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 4, 2020 with the Rev. Austin Jones officiating. Burial followed in the City of La Grange Cemetery.

Funeral arrangements have been entrusted to Tommy E. Taylor Funeral Home in La Grange.
