Officers Save Man Planning To Jump from River Bridge
Police brought a suicidal man down from the ledge of the US 77 river bridge on Saturday night, Jan. 4.
The incident unfolded around 11:30 a.m. La Grange Police Chief David Gilbreath said a 64-year-old man called 911 and said he was going to jump from the bridge and wanted police to know where to find the body.
La Grange Police Officers Mitchell Maxwell and Sgt. Justin Koehne responded along with Fayette County Sheriff’s Deputy Herman Olvera. They found the man standing on the ledge at the north end of the bridge. Gilbreath said the spot where he was standing was above the bank on the north side of the river.
