Inez Martha (Schultz) Brand entered this world on March 2, 1921 in Khedive, Saskatchewan, Canada. She was one of 11 children born to Henry Carl John Schultz and Bertha Dorathy (Cords) Schultz. She was baptized on Dec. 15, 1921 by Rev. Jas. Mckenzie Jaffray and later confirmed her baptismal vow through the rite of confirmation. Inez was united in marriage to Rev. Adolph Albert Brand on June 7, 1949 at St. Luke’s Lutheran Church in Edgeworth, Saskatchewan, Canada. Their union was blessed with five children. During WWII, she joined millions of other women who went to work in America’s factories and plants to fill the vacancies left by those who left to fight in the war. She spent several years during this time working for Bendix Engineering. Most of Inez’s adult life was spent supporting her husband’s ministry as a minister’s wife. She taught Sunday school and confirmation classes, played the piano and sang in the choirs in the churches that she and Pastor Brand served in North Dakota, South Dakota, Nevada and finally in Winchester. While in Winchester, Inez also worked for H.L. Fox Dozier and Trucking. In addition to singing and playing the piano, she also enjoyed quilting.

The Lord was gracious to Inez by granting her a long and full life which she spent making sure everyone she encountered knew their Lord and Savior, Jesus Christ. Having obtained the age of 98 years and 10 months, she passed away peacefully from this life and was granted her eternal reward the evening of Thursday, Jan. 2, 2020 in San Marcos following a brief illness.

Preceding Inez in death were her parents; her husband; her son, Timothy Brand; her daughter, Rhoda House; four brothers and three sisters.

Inez is survived by her three sons, Marcus Brand and his wife, Joycelyn of Apple Valley, Minn., David Brand of Winchester and Jonathan Brand of Austin; her son-in-law, James “Jim” House of Giddings; five grandchildren, Matthew House of McAllen, Rebekah House of McAllen; Sarah McDow and her husband, Kenneth of Slidell, La., Christopher Brand of Norfolk, Va. and Kristal Mazac and her husband James of San Marcos; five great grandchildren, Elizabeth House of McAllen, James Mazac of San Marcos, Jayde Inez Mazac of San Marcos, Seth Mazac of San Marcos and Kyle Mazac of San Marcos; two sisters, Elsie Wolfram of Churchbridge, Saskatchewan, Canada and Ruth Brown of South Bend, Indiana; one brother, Henry Schultz and his wife, Betty of Mishawaka, Ind. as well as numerous nieces and nephews.

In lieu of flowers, the Brand family recommends making memorial contributions to the Lutheran Hour Ministries or to the charity of one’s choice.

I have fought the good fight, I have finished the race, I have kept the faith. Now there is in store for me the crown of righteousness, which the Lord, the righteous Judge, will award to me on that day—and not only to me, but also to all who have longed for his appearing. 2 Timothy 4:7-8
