Minarcik
Rose Mary (Blaha) Minarcik, 90 years old, of Houston, passed away peacefully on March 11, 2020, in Richardson.
Rose was born in Plum on June 3, 1929, the daughter of Louis and Julia (Krenek) Blaha and was the oldest of ten children.
She is survived by her five children; her daughter, Rhonda, and husband Bill Edwards of Dallas; daughter, Renee Oppegard of Cypress; son, Ross, and wife Teri Minarcik of Cypress; son, Russ, and wife Cindy Minarcik of Friendswood; and daughter, Roslyn LeRibeus of Katy.
Rose spent her life being a wonderful wife, mother, sister, aunt, friend, neighbor, godmother, grandmother, and great grandmother. She was affectionately known by all as Nana Rose. True to her Czech roots, she loved a good polka and was happy to share a pivo with anyone that asked. She was well-known for her handwritten cards sent via snail mail often including a couple of dollar bills instructing the great-grandkids to use it to buy an ice-cream. Her willingness to be an adopted grandmother to all garnered love and respect from so many. Rose was a woman of great Catholic faith and was often sought out with requests to be added to her prayer list, her prayers were powerful! Saint Nana Rose – pray for us!
Nana Rose holds a very special place in the hearts of her sixteen grandchildren and twenty-four great grandchildren; her granddaughter, Angela and husband Aaron, great grandchildren, William and Emery Baldwin; grandson, Jonathon and wife Kim, great grandson, Taylor Edwards; granddaughter, Melanie and husband Dan, great grandsons, Breck, Finn, Von, and Ty Fletcher; granddaughter, Lindsey and husband Beaux, and great granddaughters, Vanessa and Bryn Olaiya; grandson, Erik and wife Jana, great grandchildren, Gunnar and Ryland Oppegard; granddaughter, Amber and husband Craig, great grandchildren, Garrett and Grayley Boutwell; granddaughter, Aubrey Oppegard; granddaughter, Lauren and husband Chris, great grandchildren, Henry, Emerson, Bailey, and Leighton Shrum; grandson, Jeremiah and wife Lindsey, great grandchildren, Wyatt, Rilynn, and Everly Minarcik; granddaughter, Courtney husband Scott, great grandchildren, Scarlett and Everett Trinkle; granddaughter, Ali and husband James Hewett; granddaughter, Jennifer and husband David, great granddaughter, Kira Juel; grandson, Justin Minarcik and great granddaughter, (Logan); grandsons, Lance and Jackson LeRibeus; granddaughter, Lacy LeRibeus. She has numerous nieces and nephews many of which she was honored to call her godchildren.
She was preceded in death by the love of her life and her favorite dance partner, Rudy Minarcik; her parents, Louis and Julia Blaha; her siblings – brother, Lambert Blaha; brother, Tommy Blaha; brother, Jim Blaha; brother, Dan and wife Earlene Blaha; brother, Lawrence and wife Nina Blaha; and sister, Becky Cernoch; sistersin-law, Pearl Isley and Maxine Wrobleski; son-in-law; Gary Oppegard, and her great-grand-daughter; Logan Minarcik.
A celebration of a life welllived was held at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellinger on Saturday, March 14, 2020. Visitation was held from 10 to 11 a.m., Rosary at 11 a.m., with the Funeral Mass at 12 p.m. followed by the burial as St. John’s Cemetery in Fayetteville.
In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to St. Augustine Catholic Church, 5560 Laurel Creek Way, Houston, TX 77017.
