Details Emerge About County Coronavirus Case
The second case of coronavirus in Fayette County has drawn officials' attention to Schulenburg. Judge Joe Weber issued a statement on Tuesday, March 31, concerning the second case, which was initially reported over the weekend.
"On Saturday, March 28, Fayette County announced that our second case of Novel Coronavirus Covid-19 was confirmed in the county," Weber said. "As with all confirmed cases, investigations were conducted as to where the patient traveled and who the patient was in contact with. These investigations are performed by regional and by local authorities to keep Fayette County and surrounding citizens safe. During the investigation, it was learned that the person had contact with other individuals and there was some known contact with Schulenburg area businesses. All known businesses have been notified and have received guidance from their health professionals as to what appropriate actions to take."
Weber said several citizens have been ordered to self-quarantine and watch closely for signs and symptoms of the Covid-19 disease.
"Fayette County citizens are urged to do the same things that they have been told for many days now; social distance, limit interaction if at all possible, and wash hands frequently," Weber said. "Now that it is clear that community spread is occurring within Texas, all interactions with the public should be looked at as possible risks for transmission."
Residents should contact their primary care physician with any questions about the disease or its symptoms. For all contact with medical providers, please give a full account of your signs and symptoms before making physical contact with the medical provider. Weber said citizens can monitor the Fayette County Website, and the social media of the Fayette County Sheriff’s Office and Fayette County EMS for the latest information.
