La Grange McDonald's Confirms Employee Tested Positive for Coronavirus
Update 8:45 p.m.: Fayette County Judge Joe Weber reported Thursday evening that the county now has 10 confirmed cases of coronavirus. The fifth confirmed positive test came from the La Grange McDonald's employee reported earlier today, April 2. Speaking of the 10 cases in total, Weber said they were spread throughout the county, but primarily in the southern and central areas. Concerning the case at the La Grange McDonald's, Weber said an epidemiologist from Region 7 of the Department of State Health Services assessed the establishment as having "low to no risk" of transmission.
"They had permission to reopen," Weber said.
Weber said the restaurant's owner, Kevin Moore, reported the case to the state. Weber said Moore coordinated closely with state officials during the ordeal.
"The owner has been very cooperative," Weber said.
Earlier: The Record has confirmed that an employee at the La Grange McDonald’s has tested positive for the Covid-19 virus. That person has not been at work in the last week.
All employees who worked with that individual have been ordered to self-quarantine.
The independent owner/operator of the store, Kevin Moore, found out about the positive test Wednesday, April 1, and ordered the store closed and sanitized by an outside company that same day (via a four-hour cleaning process). It was re-open and operating in a drive-thru capacity Thursday.
This is a developing story. We'll update it as we learn more.
