Hoelscher

Randall Lee “Randy” Hoelscher, 61, of Ellinger, passed away peacefully on Friday, April 3, 2020.

Randy was born in La Grange on Feb. 28, 1959, the son of Clemence J. and Mary Helen (Volcik) Hoelscher.

Randy graduated from La Grange High School.

Randy married Laura (Rodriguez) Hoelscher on Jan. 12, 2012.

Randy was a man of strong faith and it showed through how he cared for his family and his community.

He had a heart of gold and was the type of person to never meet a stranger.

For many years Randy worked as a ranch caretaker along with being an avid deer, duck hunter, and fisherman. His most memorable days were deer hunting with his niece’s husband Rob on South Texas ranches and duck hunting on his uncle’s gravel pits. Through the years he had a few Labradors that he loved with a passion. He was truly an outdoorsman!

He is survived by his loving wife, Laura (Rodriguez) Hoelscher; sister, Barbara Kobza and husband, Harvey of Katy; two sons: Blake Hoelscher and wife, Candace of Houston and Chase Hoelscher of Houston; two daughters, Aerial Appelt and her husband, Stephen of New Braunfels; and daughter, Lauryn Hoelscher of Bryan; grandchildren: Ramsey and Kennedy Hoelscher; and Harper and Camden Appelt; niece, Shanna Schanen and husband, Rob of Austin; nephew, Kody Kobza and wife, Clea of Houston; and niece, Crystal Baldwin and husband, Sam, of The Woodlands; great nieces and nephews: Skylar Schanen; Kendall and Landon Kobza; and Brock, Stone and Ridge Baldwin. He is also survived by an uncle, Bennie Volcik.

He was preceded in death by his parents, Clemence and Mary Hoelscher; former wife, Janice (Collins) Hoelscher; nephew, Brock Landon Kobza.

Visitation was held on Monday, April 6, 2020 from 12 to 6 p.m. at Koenig-Belvill Funeral Home & Cremations in La Grange.

In an abundance of caution due to the recent health issues, and in accordance with the CDC and local County Judge recommendations, the family has requested a private family funeral service and burial.

In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Masses in Memory of Randy Hoelscher at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, P.O. Box 57, Fayetteville, TX 78940; Gardenia E.
