COVID Update: Fayette County Now Has 16 Cases, 2 Recoveries
Fayette County has 16 confirmed cases of the COVID-19 virus, as of Monday afternoon, April 6. The County reported that two people have recovered.
County Emergency Management Chief Craig Moreau said one of the recoveries was the first patient who tested positive in Fayette County, initially reported on March 20. The second recovery was a patient that the County first learned about late last week, Moreau said. That patient was not included in the number of confirmed cases until today, April 6.
Moreau said his office will soon begin releasing case information by commissioner precinct, which will give Fayette County residents a better understanding of the location of cases.
The County also opened a centralized coronavirus testing site at the Fayette County Fairgrounds in La Grange. The site is not open to the general public. Individuals must have an order from a doctor to get tested at the site. Moreau said test results should take about 48 hours.
