Ernest Joe Mazoch

Ernest Joe Mazoch, 84, died Wednesday, Dec. 10, 2014 at Seton Hospital on Austin. Ernest was born Sept. 23, 1930 in Ammannsville to Charles and Marie (Hajovsky) Mazoch. He attended schools at Ammannsville, La Grange and graduated from Schulenburg High School. He married Barbara Hollek on Sept. 29, 1957. He was a Veteran of the Korean War and a member of the American Legion and Knights of Columbus. He was also a member of St. Michael’s Church. Ernest was a retired tractor mechanic for Highway Motor Company where he worked for 52 years. He enjoyed traveling and watching his grandchildren play ball. Ernest is survived by his wife of 57 years, Barbara Mazoch; two daughters, Rebecca Gerecke and husband Daniel of La Grange and Grace Robinson and husband Kevin of La Grange; four grandchildren, Stephanie Gerecke and fiancé Cameron Steadman of New Braunsfels, Hannah Gerecke, Adam Robinson and Cory Robinson, all of La Grange; one brother, Charlie Mazoch of Weimar; two sisters, Irene Mazoch of San Antonio and Gabrielle Cervenka of Houston. Numerous nieces, nephews and cousins also survive. He was preceded in death by his parents, son Michaal Mazoch, brother Ladis Mazoch, sisters Marie Laitkep, Toni Sumbera, Francis Rainosek, Annie Pfertner and Helen Hanacek. A Rosary was held at 9:30 a.m. on Saturday, Dec. 13 at St. Michael’s Church in Weimar followed by the Funeral Mass at 10 a.m. Burial followed at St. Michael’s Cemetery with Monsignor Bily officiating. Hubbard Funeral Home in Weimar was in charge of arrangements.
