County Leaders Tell Pipeline Company to Halt Construction

Fayette County sent a cease and desist letter to a company installing a pipeline without proper permits. The company, Aspen Midstream, told the Record that it was attempting to comply with the County’s regulations while aiming to keep workers employed during the current economic crisis in the oil and gas industry.

County permitting official Clint Sternadel told the Commissioners at a meeting last Thursday that he notified the company, Aspen Midstream, that they were operating illegally over a month ago. Since then, he said, Aspen has not filed the proper paperwork with the county.

The County requires pipeline companies to file permits and bonds for working in county road rights-of-way. It also requires companies to coordinate with County Commissioners in regards to traffic routing, to keep road damages to a minimum and to make repairs.
