Hareld Dean Purdy
Hareld Dean Purdy “the professor,” born Dec. 16, 1928 in Brady, died March 21, 2015 in Del Rio. He was the son of Homer Jefferson and Tempie Geneva Purdy and brother to Lorene Wells. Former resident of La Grange and an E.S.L. teacher at Blinn College-Schulenburg campus, Hareld is preceded by his late wife, Patricia Lee Purdy in Dallas. He is survived by Min Nure Purdy of Shanghai, China; his sons and daughters, Kevin Dean, Fletcher Mont, Kayleen and Kimmy Lee. He graduated high school in Richland Springs class of 44. He honorably served in the 101st Airborne Division in Japan and later served in the Korean War. He attended Howard Payne College in Brownwood. He attended graduate schools at Dedmon College of Law at S.M.U in Dallas and North Texas State University in Denton. In retirement he honorably served as volunteer for the U.S. Peace Corps. After a distinguished career as high school teacher and college professor, he continued as a substitute teacher in Del Rio until his death. In lieu of flowers “plant a tree.
