Johnny “John” Virgil Yackel

Johnny “John” Virgil Yackel, 72, of La Grange, formerly of El Campo, died May 12, 2015. Johnny was born Jan. 9, 1943 to Vlasta Novak and Walter Lee Yackel in El Campo. He graduated from El Campo High School in 1961. He married Dianna Christmas Yackel on Sept. 19, 1986 in Bay City. He enjoyed woodworking, fishing, hunting, and raising boxer puppies. Memorial services will be held Saturday, May 23, 2015 at 11 a.m. at First Baptist Church of El Campo. The Pastor Rick DuBroc will officiate. Interment will follow in the Palacios Cemetery. He is survived by his wife, Dianna Yackel; sons, Kurt and wife Gina Yackel of Wharton, Chris and wife Jennifer Yackel of Austin and Clayton and wife Cassi Yackel of El Campo; five grandchildren, and two greatgrandchildren; and brothers, Alvin Yackel and Clarence Yackel, both of El Campo. He is preceded in death by his parents, Vlasta and Walter Yackel and sisters-in-law, Francis Garner Yackel and Betty Rod Yackel.
