Evelyn Myrtle (Toll) Buscha

Valary Sophie (Schneider) Smith, 84, of La Grange, died Saturday, May 23, 2015 at Columbus
Community Hospital in Columbus. She was born in Indian Creek, Texas on Nov, 1, 1930, the daughter of the late Gus and Sophia, (Hayek) Schneider. She married Jesse Lee Smith Dec. 28, 1950 in Galveston. Valary worked as a medical assistant for over 40 years before her retirement. She was a dedicated and loving mother to her family and continued to work as
a volunteer for her church and Second Chance Emporium, and she supported the La Grange
Volunteer Fire Department. She is survived by: son Scott Smith and wife Mary of McKinney,
grandson Scott Smith II and wife Kanokwan and greatgranddaughter Quinlyn; stepgrandchildren
Brad and Misty Jones and step-great-grandchildren Cooper, Emma and Rylee Jones; and by son Pat Smith and wife Shelly of McKinney, grandson Aaron Smith and wife Holly and great-granddaughter Samantha, and grandson Jacob Smith. She is also survived by her brothers: Glenn Schneider and wife Jane of La Grange and Willie Schneider of Muldoon and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents; her husband, Jesse Lee Smith, who passed away on June 5, 2011; and one brother, Gus Schneider. Visitation was held on Monday,
May 25, 2015 from 8 a.m. to 6 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home in La Grange. Private Graveside Services will be held at La Grange City Cemetery on Tuesday, May 26,2015, with Pastor William Qualman officiating. In lieu of flowers, memorial contributions may be made to Saint Paul Lutheran Church , 110 W. Walnut, La Grange, Texas 78945; La Grange Volunteer Fire Department, 224 N. Franklin, La Grange, Texas 78945; or a charity of one’s choice.
