George J. Veselka
George J. Veselka, born July 25, 1924 in Fayetteville, died peacefully at the age of 91 on Sunday, Aug. 9, 2015 in his home surrounded by family. Dad proudly served his country flying 35 missions as a Ball Turret Gunner in a B-24 “Liberator” Bomber during W.W.II. After his service, Dad attended the University of Houston receiving a Bachelor’s Degree in Business. Dad spent many years as an accountant in the oil and gas industry retiring in 1986 from Ada Oil Co. His next career was made up of fishing, gardening, ranching, and looking for an excuse to “head east” to any of the Louisiana casinos up to the time of his death. He also loved visits from his grandchildren and later, great grandchildren. His name spans four generations with his son, grandson, and great grandson proudly carrying his name. Dad and Mom were married Jan. 24, 1953 in All Saints Catholic Church in Houston. This union produced six children - three sons and three daughters - all of whom Dad was very proud. Dad was preceded in death by his youngest son Gary and his brother Emil, sisters Mary, Mildred, Cornelia and Jenny. He’s survived by his loving wife of 62 years, Catherine Sue Veselka, daughters Monica and husband Lee Rothfeld, Vicky and husband Robert Deem, Cecelia and husband Joe Holzer, sons Greg Veselka, George Jr. and wife Julie. Grandchildren George III and wife Julie, Kellie and husband Marshall Odom III, Trey, Danielle, and Jason Rothfeld, Robby and Amanda Deem, Great grandchildren George IV and Audrey Veselka, Marshall IV, Kaylee and Kyle dom, Savannah Ferrell, and “Mom’s dog” Honey.
