Jerome F. Chovanec (“Jake”)

Jerome F. Chovanec (“Jake”), 83, born on Oct. 1, 1931 in Rutersville, died on Friday, Aug. 21, 2015 in Houston. Jake retired from 40 plus
years of working as a carpenter and cabinet maker in Houston. He served in the United States Army from 1951-1954 during which time he served overseas in
Okinawa during the Korean War. Jake was an avid fisherman who enjoyed spending his time onLake Conroe fishing for crappie and catfish as well as doing farm
and ranch work on the land he and his wife owned in Waldeck. He is preceded in death by his parents Zigmund and Albina Chovanec.
He is survived by his wife of nearly 63 years, Jeanette Florine Albers Chovanec, sons Jerome Jr. (“Jerry”) and Ronald (“Ron”), daughter-in-law Stacey Gilcrease
Chovanec, sister Bernice Chovanec Eilers and her husband Eugene as well as numerous nieces and nephews. Visitation was held on Sunday,
Aug. 23, 2015 from 6 to 8 p.m. at Woodlawn Funeral Home & Cemetery at 1101 Antoine Dr. in Houston. Funeral Mass was held on Monday, Aug. 24, 2015 at 10 a.m.
at Saint Jerome Catholic Church, 8825 Kempwood Drive in Houston. Burial service will follow at Woodlawn Garden of Memories, 1101 Antoine Drive, in Houston.
In lieu of flowers, a contribution can be made in Mr. Chovanec’sname to a charity of the contributor’s choice. Woodlawn Funeral Home in Houston was in charge of arrangements.
