Judge Blames Border Surge for Decline in Court Collections Here

County, district and justice court fines in Fayette County are down over $85,000 from this time last year. Most of the drop is due to a sharp decline in fines collected by the four justice of the peace courts, which handle nearly all traffic tickets. County auditor Kathy Kleiber presented the information during her regular report on county finances at the Commissioners Court meeting on Monday, Sept. 28.
