Jack Scott Mitchell died Sunday, Oct. 11, 2015 after a brief illness at Kindred Bay Area Hospital in Pasadena. He was born April 16, 1944 in Houston. Jack was a longtime resident of La Grange. He was a member and employee of Sacred Heart Catholic Church and School in La Grange. Jack enjoyed spending time with his family, his church family, and many friends in the community. He also followed his favorite sports teams the Astros, Texans, A&M Aggies, and his La Grange Leopards. He was preceded in death by his parents, O. T. and Bessie Matocha Gentry and his brother Florian, grandparents Louis and Emily Matocha, aunts and uncles Isabel and Eddie Goebel, Lillian and William Fajkus, Lucy and Eddie Wisnoski, Leroy Matocha, and Louis and Dora Matocha; first cousins Pauline Harmon and Jerry Fajkus. He is survived by his aunt Doris Matocha of Fayetteville; first cousins and their spouses, Virginia and John Yancey, Buddy and La Ree Goebel, William J. and Linda Fajkus, Danny and Judy Fajkus, Eddie and Cindy Wisnoski, Bobby and Mary Wisnoski, Frankie and Peggy Wisnoski, Eileen and Jeff Graeter, Lee Alan and Becky Matocha, Janice and Mike Marek, Mark  and Lisa Matocha, Lori and JohnSpies, Frankie and Debbie Matocha, Doris and Nemery Demar, Linda and Gilbert Gonzalez, and Barbara and Michael Fox; numerous second cousins and their children and many distant cousins and other loving family and friends also survive. Visitation will be held Saturday, Oct. 17, 2015 from 12 to 1 p.m. with a Mass celebrated at 1 p.m. at the Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 539 E. Pearl Street in La Grange, with Father Matthew Kinney as celebrant. In lieu of flowers, the family asks that you give a donation to the Sacred Heart Cathodic School for their technology department or the American Cancer Society. The family would like to extend a special thank you to Memorial Hermann Hospital Downtown and Kindred Hospital Bay Area in Pasadena. To his friends and family, thanks for your cards, calls, love, and prayers during this trying time.
