Is It Really That Big of an Issue?

I’ve been reading a lot about the Starbucks coffee cup controversy. For those of you who are unaware, here it is in a nutshell. The Starbucks Corporation chooses a special design for the Christmas season each year that is different from their traditional white cup. This year they chose a simple two-toned red cup with their logo on it. Some conservative Christian groups have chosen to take offense saying that the choice was anti-Christian. Here’s my take on it. First of all – it’s just coffee. It’s not some sacred drink. Coffee has nothing to do with Christmas (or any other holiday for that matter.) It’s a caffeinated drink that many of us start our mornings with and some of us use it throughout the day just to keep our edge. We drink it in large quantities here at the office and we don’t care what the cup looks like, we just want the cup to be full all day long.
