Klesel

Lawrence Joseph Klesel, 80, of Weimar, died Wednesday, Nov. 18 at Austin Heart Hospital. Lawrence was born on Jan. 15, 1935 to Frank and Annie Kunz Klesel at their homestead in Schulenburg. He attended Schulenburg High School and later married Lillian Muras Klesel on Feb. 19, 1955 at Queen of the Holy Rosary in Hostyn. Lawrence was a member of the Knights of Columbus 4th Degree and the owner of Weimar Home Furnishers until he retired. He was a loving husband, father, grandfather and great-grandfather. He loved attending all the sports events, local FFA shows, musical events and theatrical events his children and grandchildren were involved in. He also loved playing Bingo at all the local church picnics and Sunday evenings with his friends. He especially loved his trips to Coushatta with his wife. He always made friends with everyone he met. No one was ever a stranger. But he will be remembered by his other love, Blue Bell Ice Cream. He was preceded in death by three sisters and two brothers. Survivors include Lawrence’s wife Lillian Klesel of Weimar; son, Michael and wife Dolly Klesel of Dubina; daughters, Diane and husband Tony Janda of Weimar, Cindy and husband Danny Marek of Dubina, Barbara and husband Anton Kubesch of West Point, Susie and Douglas Behlen of Schulenburg, Nancy and husband Andrew Srubar of Ammannsville and Jackie and husband Jack Shaw of Round Rock; sister-in-law, Lydia Komensky; 16 grandchildren and 14 great-grandchildren. A funeral service was held on Nov. 21 at St. Michaels Catholic Church with Msgr. John Bily and Fr. Tim Kosler officiating. Interment followed at St. Michaels Catholic Cemetery. Pallbearers were Lawrence’s grandsons: Shawn Janda, Corey Marek, Kalum Marek, Cody Marek, Kyle Marek, Aaron Kubesch, Eric Kubesch and David Srubar. Honorary pallbearers were granddaughters Amber Kristynik, Kristen Chandler, Brooke Janda, Amy Behlen, Arlene Little, Megan Bartos, Allison Srubar and Kamie Klesel.
