James Meinke
Funeral Services for James Meinke, 80 of Austin, were held at 11 a.m. on Thursday, Jan. 14, 2016 at Hope Lutheran Church in Austin. Graveside services followed at 2 p.m. at the Friendship Cemetery in Paige. James Winston Meinke was born on July 1, 1935 in Nechanitz, the son of D.J. and Anita (Matejowsky) Meinke. He graduated from Round Top-Carmine High School and served in the U.S. Army. James married Marilyn Saegert on July 9, 1960 in Giddings. James was a longtime barber having owned and operated Reagan Square Barber Shop in Austin for many years. He passed away on Jan. 11, 2016 in La Grange. James is survived by three children, Paul and Rachel Meinke of Giddings, Dean and Valerie Meinke of Waldeck and Michelle and David Merka of Austin; six grandchildren, Stephanie Meinke an her friend, Evan Kubicek of Norman, Okla., Stacy Meinke of San Marcos, Catherine, Colton and Cari Meinke all of Waldeck and Ashley Merka of Austin; his sister, Deanna Radenz of Waldeck; his mother-in-law, Olefia Saegert of Paige; his sister-in-law, Annette and Charlie Foerster of Lincoln as well as several cousins, nieces, nephews and friends. Phillips & Luckey Funeral Home in Giddings was in charge of arrangements.
