Melvin Krause, 80, of Brenham, husband of Charlyn Krause, died Jan. 10, 2016 in Brenham. Funeral mass was held at 10 a.m., Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church, with Father Ernesto Elizondo, Officiant. Burial followed in Calvary Cemetery. The family received relatives and friends from 6 until 8 p.m. Tuesday evening at Memorial Oaks Chapel, 1306 W. Main, with a Rosary recited at 7 p.m. Melvin was born Aug. 11, 1935 to Walter and Jolanda Kansteiner Krause in New Ulm. Baptized on June 8, 1957 by Rev. Koler at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellinger, he was confirmed on March 13, 1977 at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Brenham by Father Beal. Melvin graduated from Fayetteville High School. On June 9, 1957, he was married to Charlyn Minar at St. Mary’s Catholic Church in Ellinger by Rev. Francis Koler. Melvin was employed at Capital Steel and Iron Co. in Houston, and retired from Hi- Line Industries in Brenham. Fishing, hunting, dancing, and working in his garden were favorite pastimes. He also enjoyed trips to Louisiana, and took pleasure in working on his farm with his cattle. Survivors include his wife of 58 years, Charlyn Krause of Brenham; son, Doyle Krause and wife Judy of Bleiblerville; daughter-in-law Claudia Appelt and husband Mark of Brenham; grandsons Derek Krause and wife Emilee of Frisco; Carson Krause and Garett Krause of Bleiblerville; sister and brother-in-law Verlyne and August Aschenbeck, Jr. of Shelby. Melvin was preceded in death by his parents and a son, Dale Krause, on Jan. 13, 1986. Melvin’s nephews will served as pallbearers. Honorary pallbearers were nieces and dancing friends.
