Alice Annie DeHarde
Alice Annie DeHarde, 95, of Shiner, died Wednesday, Jan. 13, 2016 at Shiner Nursing and Rehab in Shiner. Funeral services were under the direction of Buffington Funeral Home in Shiner and were held at 10 a.m. on Saturday, Jan. 16, 2016 at Dr. Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Shiner with Reverend Elaine Gomulka and Paul Muehlbrad officiating. Interment followed at the Shiner City Cemetery in Shiner. A prayer service was held at 7 p.m. at Buffington Funeral Home Chapel on Friday, Jan. 15, 2016, with Reverend Elaine Gomulka officiating. Visitation began at 12 noon on Friday. Alice was born on Dec. 6, 1920 in Midway, Texas. She was the daughter of Frank J. and Mary K. (Ruhmann) Huebner. She married Victor G. DeHarde in Shiner on June 16, 1942. While Victor was serving our country overseas, Alice worked at Todd Shipyards in Galveston. She later worked at TexTan as a belt inspector, and at Kasper Wire Works working on newspaper racks, and then as owner of DeHarde’s Upholstery Shop. Alice was a member of Dr. Martin Luther Lutheran Church in Shiner, and served as the church secretary in past years. She was also a member of Ladies Aid at the church. She was a Lifetime Member of the VFW Auxiliary. She was also a member of Hermann Sons, and the American Legion Women’s Auxiliary. Alice played in several domino clubs. She liked to quilt and crochet, and do sewing for others. She enjoyed taking care of her flower garden, and playing bingo. Alice is survived by two daughters; Ruth Ann Berger and her husband, Daniel of Houston, Carolyn Filla of Shiner, one grandson; Chad Filla and his wife, Brittany of Round Rock, two granddaughters; Roxann Wieder and her husband, Chris of Spring, Michelle Taylor and her husband, John of Ozark, Mo.; three great-grandsons; Zachary, Nicholas, and Jacob Wieder, four great-granddaughters; Caroline, Morgan, and Paige Taylor, Makyla Filla, one sister; Mary Ann Parr of Cuero. She was preceded in death by her parents; Frank and Mary Huebner, her loving husband of 41 years; Victor DeHarde, two brothers; Monroe and Clifton Huebner. Pallbearers were Daniel Berger, Chad Filla, Chris Wieder, John Taylor, Zachary Wieder, and Nicholas Wieder. Honorary Pallbearers were; Roxann Wieder, Michelle Taylor, Caroline Taylor, Morgan Taylor, Paige Taylor, Makyla Filla, and Jacob Wheeler.
