Dixie J. Schobel

Dixie J. Schobel, 75, of Columbus, died Jan. 8, 2016 in Columbus. He was born on Nov. 30, 1940 to Harry O. and Sophie (Supak) Schobel in Ellinger. On July 8, 1967 he married Ruby (Beinhauer) Schobel. Dixie was a retired dragline operator and worked for Hanson Aggregates for many years until his retirement. Dixie is survived by his wife of 48 years, Ruby Schobel of Columbus; two daughters, Amie Locke of League City and Cynthia Rogers of Columbus; a son, Brian J. Schobel of Schulenburg; a sister, Ellen Scroggins and her husband Chuck of Hempstead, and a granddaughter, Scarlett Button. Funeral services were held on Tuesday, Jan. 12, 2016, 2 p.m. at St. Anthony Catholic Church in Columbus, with Fr. Wayne Flagg, officiating. Burial took place in St. Anthony Catholic Cemetery in Columbus. Memorials are suggested to the St. Anthony Catholic Church, P.O. Box 669, Columbus, TX 78934.
