Funeral services for Doris Hartmann, 88, of La Grange will be held at 10 a.m. Tuesday, Jan., 26, 2016 at the St. John’s Lutheran Church in Rutersville with Pastor Marcia Kifer, officiating. Interment will follow in the Rutersville Cemetery under the care and direction of Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange. A visitation was held from noon until 7 p.m. Monday, Jan. 25, 2016 at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange with the family present from 5 until 7 p.m. Doris passed from this life Jan. 22, 2016 at a local hospital. Doris was born Dec. 20, 1927 in La Grange to Hermann and Wilhemine Helmken Mueller. She married Lee Roy Hartmann on Nov. 28, 1948 in Rutersville. He preceded her in death on June 29, 2001. Doris was a member of St John Lutheran Church in Rutersville where she was baptized, confirmed and married. Doris was a Sunday school teacher, a member of the women of the ELCA, and the Rutersville Sons of Hermann. She loved gardening, cooking, canning, making jellies, sewing, dancing, and playing dominos. She worked at Luther Hill in the kitchen. For  the first few years of her marriage she lived and worked in Victoria. Doris is survived by two sons: Glen Hartmann and Margaret Fox of Rutersville and Weldon Hartmann and his wife Lee Ann of Rutersville; one sister: Marian Frerichs of La Grange; one sister-in-law, Lorena Mueller of La Grange; two grandchildren, Kayla and Kyle Hartmann. Doris was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, four brothers and two sisters-in-law: Herbert and Leona Mueller, Leon Mueller, Lorenz and Evelyn Mueller, and Vastine Mueller; and four sisters and brothers-in-law, Hilda and Ernst Peters,Edna and John Stahmer, Esther and Elo Wied, and Louise and Fred Witt; one brother-in-law, Edgar Frerichs, and three brothers-in-law and sisters in law: Edward and Winifred Hartmann, Lawrence and Leona Hartfield, and Milton and Lillie Helmken. Family suggests memorials to St. John’s Lutheran Church, 5735 Hwy. 159, La Grange, Texas 78945, and Luther Hill Camp and Retreat, 3782 Luther Hill Rd., La Grange, Texas 78945 or a charity of one’s choice. Fayette Memorial Funeral Home is in charge of arrangements.
