Laura Louise (Bohlmann) Bartos, 82, of La Grange, died Thursday, July 7, 2016 in Bedford. Laura was born in Schulenburg on July 20, 1933, the daughter of Otto and Frances (Mazac) Bohlmann. She married Justin Victor Bartos, Jr. on Jan. 24, 1954 at St. Rose Lima Catholic Church in Schulenburg and were married for 57 years. Laura attended Schulenburg High School and received her Bachelor’s and Master’s Degrees in Mathematics from Southwest Texas State University (Texas State University). She taught math and science at several high schools including La Grange, Schulenburg, Bishop Forest and Austin ISD. Laura enjoyed the successes of her former students. They frequently visited with her reminiscing and thanking her for helping them with their accomplishments and career goals. She assisted her husband, Justin, in operating Hermes Drug Store following her retirement from teaching. During her retirement, she continued to serve the community as a volunteer at the “AMEN” program, through Sacred Heart Parish ministries and an active member of the Catholic Daughters of the Americas Court Annunciation No. 1962 for 35 years. Laura was an avid exerciser and health advocate. She loved travel and explored numerous unusual places such as India, Egypt, Cambodia amongst others. She was very passionate about education. Many of her trips included studying the educational systems of the countries she was visiting. She spent much of her time sharing her experiences with her children and grandchildren. She is survived by her sister, Marie (Mickie) Bohlmann and partner, Carol Lowe of New Orleans, La.; her brother, Frank Bohlmann and wife, Becky, of Schulenburg; her son, Dr. Justin Bartos and wife, Sheryl, of Bedford; daughter, Jacquelyn Bartos Points and husband, Robert Isaac, of Denver, Colo.; son, John Bartos and wife, Kim, of Libertyville, Ill.; seven grandchildren: Amber Bartos Flanigan, Autumn Bartos Coffey, Justine Bartos LeGrand, Jacob Posey, Hannah Posey, Kenner Bartos and Mark Bartos; five great-grandchildren: Connor and Haylie Flanigan; Ryan, Aaron and Karli Coffey. She was preceded in death by her parents; husband, Justin; brother, Gus Bohlmann; and sister, Dorothy Ann Bohlmann Morrison. Visitation was held on Monday, July 11, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home. Family received friends from 5 to 7 p.m. A rosary was recited at 7 p.m. Funeral services will be held at Sacred Heart Catholic Church, 580 E. Pearl St., in La Grange at 2 p.m. on Tuesday, July 12, 2016. A private burial will follow.
