Two-Percent Raise Approved For Fayette County Employees

By ANDY BEHLEN Fayette County Commissioners Court voted 4-1 on Tuesday, August 2, to propose a two percent pay raise for all elected county officials, including themselves. Pct. 3 Commissioner Harvey Berkenhoff cast the only dissenting vote. Earlier in the meeting commissioners unanimously voted to give all other employees a two percent raise.

“Two percent keeps you where you’re at today. If you don’t go with two percent, you’re falling behind,” said Fayette County Judge Ed Janecka.

But when it came time to deliberate a raise for elected officials, Berkenhoff and Pct. 4 Commissioner Tom Muras argued against the idea, although Muras later changed his mind.
