County Decides Against Buying Bank Building

By H.H. HOWZE After an executive session Monday, county commissioners decided to punt on a bid to acquire the former Pioneer Bank building at 143 N. Main Street in La Grange.

“It’s just not a good fit for our purposes,” County Judge Ed Janecka said afterward. County officials had discussed offering $700,000 for the building, but after looking the property over decided it would take another $100,000 to reconfigure the building for county offices. 

“Plus it would take the building off the tax rolls,” Janecka said.
