Donald Eugene Easton, 87, of La Grange, died Saturday, Aug. 13, 2016. Donald was born in Galveston on Dec. 7, 1928. He married Carolyn Bertsch Easton on Feb. 15, 1980 in La Grange. Donald served proudly in the U.S. Army during World War II as a medic on the combat ship “Hope.” He attended trade professional school, and dedicated his career serving in law enforcement for over twenty years. His law enforcement career allowed him to hold a position in Alvin, Austin County, Harris, Fayette County, and then as Chief of Police in Wallace. Donald is survived by his wife, Carolyn Bertsch Easton, of La Grange; two daughters: Denise Hallows and husband, Carl; and Donna Easton, all of Santa Fe, Texas; five step sons: Milton Wayne Mager of Santa Fe; Douglas Mager, and wife, Yvonne, of Needville; Timothy Mager and wife, Lisa, of Magnolia; Lee Allen Mager and wife, Tamera, of Wallace; Daren James Mager and wife, Pamela, of Santa Fe; and twenty grandchildren. He was preceded in death by his grandmother, Carla Fullerton (who raised him); brothers-in-law: Bennie Bertsch of La Grange and Daniel Bertsch of Fayetteville; grandchild, Keith Mager; and great grandchild, Austin Steel.
