Coufal
Elizabeth P. Coufal, 79 of Galveston (formerly of Fayetteville) died peacefully in her home on Aug. 22, 2016 with her family by her side. She was born on July 27, 1937 to John and Cecilia Hubenak in La Grange. She married the love of her life, Jesse A. Coufal on June 16, 1957 at the Industry Brethern Church in Industry. She was a devoted wife, loving mother, grandmother to three grandsons, great grandmother to twins, wonderful sister, amazing aunt and a “second mother” to many. A Celebration of her life will be held 11 a.m. on Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016 at the Industry Brethren Church, 2758 Main Street, Industry, Texas 78944. A reception will follow in the church fellowship hall. Elizabeth spent many wonderful years fishing, hunting, crabbing, camping, dancing and gambling with her husband and family. Everyone truly enjoyed her cooking whether it was fried fish, gumbo, venison or roast, but especially the fried fish after many successful fishing trips. Elizabeth was preceded in death by her parents, her brother, sister-in-law and brother-in-law. She is survived by her loving husband Jesse A. Coufal of 59 years, her son Ken Coufal and Terri Benyi, her daughter Karen Chapman and husband Ray, her grandsons Brandon Coufal and wife Corey, Grannon Chapman and Konnor Chapman, great grandchildren Logan and Lacee Coufal, her sister Mildred Kubicek, and several loving sister-in-laws, brother-in-laws, nieces and nephews, and many other very special friends and family members. A special thanks to the nurses and caregivers from Amed Hospice who gave Elizabeth quality care, especially Ron Eaves, LVN, for his dedication and compassion in taking care of our mother during her final days. A very special thanks to Vera Cooper for many years of companionship. Elizabeth’s family also wishes to extend many Thanks to Drs. Markowitz and Berman of UTMB for many years of exceptional and compassionate care during her 13 plus year battle with cancer. Over the years Elizabeth beat the odds and maintained a good quality of life while watching her youngest grandson graduate from high school, her middle grandson become an Aggie and becoming a great grandmother, while making a few gambling trips to Louisiana, several trips to the “country” and spending quality time with her family who she dearly loved and she was very much loved back. In lieu of flowers, memorial donations may be sent in Elizabeth’s name to the Industry Brethren Church at 2758 Main St., P.O. Box 73, Industry, Texas 78944.
