Ray Burns Moore, 72 of La Grange, died on Sept. 6, 2016. Ray was born in Sabinal, Texas on Nov. 19, 1943, the son of George Moore and Louise Burns Moore. Ray was a man of many interests and abilities. His overwhelming optimism stood him well in his many endeavors in real estate, the oil business, operating a gravel pit, ranching and finally enjoying his hand at owning an exotice game ranch. Once mastering the new technology of the computer age, he kept his many friends amused with his unending emails, jokes and stories. Even in his last days his infectious attitude made him a favorite of the nurses. He is survived by his wife; Betty B. Moore of La Grange; two sons; Joddy James Moore and wife Erin of La Grange, Jason Elo Moore and wife Lindsey of Elgin, S.C.; two daughters, Betty Rae Clinton and husband Kevin of Bloomington, Minn., Susan Joan Tinney and husband David of Hosston, La.; granddaughters, Tiffani, Laura, Delilah, Brittany and Kelsey; grandsons, Dalton, Sean, Stephen, Scott, Ray, and Joddy; two great-granddaughters, Carleigh and Olivia; two greatgrandsons, Maddox and Emmitt; stepdaughter, Stephanie Choate and husband Clayton; two stepgranddaughters, Courtney and Rachel of Lafayette, La. Ray is also survived by two sisters; Mary Jo Osborne and Molly Wilson and husband David of Waco; one brother, John Moore and wife Ann of Leander and numerous nieces and nephews. Ray was preceded in death by his parents; George and Louise Moore; brothers, George Henry Moore, David Lee Moore, James Edgar Moore, Terry Brooks Moore, and Bob Adelbert Moore; sister-in-law, Myrtle Jewell Moore; nephew, George Lee Moore and great-granddaughter, Hartleigh Danyiel Kaltwasser. Visitation was held Thursday Sept. 8, 2016 from 12 p.m. until 7 p.m. at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange. The family received visitors from 5 p.m. until 7 p.m. Funeral services are scheduled for Friday, Sept. 9, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange. A second service is scheduled for 2 p.m. Saturday, Sept. 10, 2016 at Rushing Estes-Knowles Mortuary in Sabinal. Interment will follow in Waresville Cemetery in Utopia. Memorial contributions may be made to Hospice Brazos Valley in La Grange, the American Lung Association, or the charity of one’s choice. Fayette Memorial Funeral Home in La Grange is in charge of arrangements.
