Joyce Margaret Parma, 86, died Sept. 12, 2016 in Houston. She was born on Feb. 22, 1930 in La Grange to Emil and Edna Boening. She graduated from Schulenburg High School and married Richard E. Parma on Aug. 15, 1951. They settled in Houston and both enjoyed long careers with Amoco Oil. She was an avid Houston Astros fan, ferocious Bridge player, and master cook in addition to being her subdivision’s self-appointed Neighborhood Watch Captain. She is preceded in death by her husband, Richard E. Parma; mother, Edna Boening; father, Emil Boening; sister, Dorothy Bright; brother-in-law, Rayford Bright; and brother-in-law, Glenn Parma. She is survived by her daughter, Gail Hammontree and husband Robert, of Schulenburg; grandson, Will Hammontree, of Cypress; granddaughter, Laura Reina and great-granddaughter, Madeline Reina, both of Nacogdoches; sister-in-law, Verann Simmons, and her husband, Leon Simmons; numerous nieces and nephew. A visitation was held Wednesday, Sept. 14, 2016 from 5 to 7 p.m. at Memorial Oaks Funeral Home, 13001 Katy Fwy. in Houston. Funeral services will be held Thursday, Sept. 15, 2016 at 10 a.m. at Covenant Lutheran Church, 3785 Barker Cypress Rd., Houston, Texas 77084 with interment to follow at St. Rose of Lima Cemetery in Schulenburg at 3 p.m. Donations “In Memory of Joyce Parma” are welcomed and can be sent to her church, Covenant Lutheran Church in Houston.
