Kolbe
Kathryn Diane Kolbe of La Grange died Sept. 21, 2016 following a brief illness. She was 70 years old. Diane was born April 2, 1946 in Houston to Walter E. and Ruby Kolbe. Survivors include two sisters, Alma Hunter and husband James of Houston, Margaret Kopp and husband Loren of Houston; two brothers, Rev. Walter Kolbe Jr. (Sonny) of Houston, James (Moose) Kolbe of Ganado; one aunt, Lois Stromberg of Houston; and many special nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, Walter E. and Ruby Kolbe of La Grange, infant brother, Mark E. Kolbe, sister Ethel Sivcoski of Houston and brother Lloyd Kolbe of La Grange. Diane was a gifted singer and songwriter and played guitar and piano. In 1970, she recorded one album for Columbia Records self-titled Diane Kolby. Her song, “Holy Man” from the album reached #67 on the Billboard chart in the U.S. and made the national charts in Australia. Although Diane’s career in music was brief, she continued sharing her passion for music and her Christian faith throughout her life with all those she came in contact with. A gospel song she wrote but never recorded, Woodcarver, was a testimony to her love for her Savior and Lord Jesus Christ. A memorial service for Diane will be held on Saturday, Oct. 8 at 10 a.m. at WoodlawnFuneral Home Chapel, 1101 Antoine Dr., in Houston. Woodlawn Funeral Home in Houston is in charge of arrangements.
