Loraine Keilers Bazán, age 77, was born in Woodsboro, Texas on January 4, 1939. On October 18, after a 10 year battle with cancer she passed into Heaven to be in Christ’s arms where she will be in peace forever. Loraine was preceded in death by her parents, Werner and Fay Keilers. She is survived by her husband of 47 years, Hugo Alberto Bazán, her children Carlos and Sherry Bazán, Christian  Bazán and Calandra Lindstadt of Austin, and by her brothers, sisters and their spouses, James Keilers, Mary Hayes, Dennis and Roseanne Keilers, Jerry and Doris Schappe, Robert and Karen Keilers, many nieces and nephews, and her beloved Fox Terrier Uhli, who was her constant companion during the illness. Loraine and her family moved to Warrenton, Texas in the Round Top area where she attended school and graduated from Round Top/Carmine High School. She attended the University of Texas at Austin, initially pursuing a degree in Education before moving into Accounting,at which she excelled.  During her career she worked for Fulford’s Appliance of Austin, Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, the Daughters of Charity Special Needs Center, Lone Star Overnight, Libby King & Associates, as well as having her own business. In 1966 on a blind date arranged by her brother Dennis and his best friend, she met Hugo Bazán, who became the love of her life. They were married on May 17, 1969 in St. John’s Lutheran Church in Austin. Theymoved to College Station, Texas  where she helped her new husband finish his degree in Architecture from Texas A&M University. Throughout theirmarried lives they moved many  times, first to Austin in 1970, then Mexico City in 1972 where Hugo started his own business, back to Austin in 1977, Connecticut years later, then finally back home to Austin. Her sons Carlos and Christian were born in Austin, in 1972 and 1978 respectively. Loraine became involved in every community she lived in. She volunteered and served in leadership positions for her children’s extracurricular activities: the American Youth SoccerLeague, Trumbull H.S. and Mc- Callum H.S. Band Parents. She was active in the Austin Aggie Moms’ Club, including serving as President. Loraine also volunteered in every faith community she was a part of, serving in the altar guild of Good Shepherd Lutheran Church (Monroe, CT), Lord of Life Lutheran Church (Austin), where she was a charter member, and Abiding Love Lutheran Church (Austin). Loraine had a love of life that included sports like basketball and water skiing (barefoot onLake Austin), and travel abroad to Europe, Puerto Rico, and Mexico. She was an avid football fan and loved to hoot and holler during every college game she watched.She will be remembered as an elegant, independent lady,  and by her children, as a supermom who did it all. Visitation for family, friends and colleagues was held at Weed-Corley-Fish Funeral Home, 3125 N. Lamar, Austin, Texas on Sunday, October 23rd from 1 to 3 pm. A Celebration of Life Memorial followed at 4 PM at the Texas Federation of Women’s Clubs, 2312 San Gabriel St., Austin, Texas.
