Kana

Elaine Elizabeth Kana, 68, of Kingston Springs, died Oct. 31 at St. Thomas Hospital in Nashville. The Massachusetts native  was the daughter of the late Michael and Jessie DeRosa Rizzo. She was a homemaker and member of the Catholic faith. Elaine will be best remembered for her ability to clearly verbalize her thoughts, opinionsand ideas, always seasoned by her strong Italian background. She loved to work crossword puzzles and word-search games, but was most passionate about the causes she found important. Her passion was expressed in her love for her shelter dogs, as well as the mission of St. Jude’s Research Hospital. Because of Elaine’s love of country music, and after several trips to Nashville for Fan Fair, she and her husband, Stan, relocated in 2008 to make Nashville their home. In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by her sister, Laurie Gogan. She is survived by her husband Stan; brothers-in-law: Mike (Becky) Kana of Stanford, Ky., Paul (Leesa) Kana of La Grange, and Pete Gogan; cousins Steve Statuto and Anthony (Grace) Statuto and Louise DeRosa and family; and niece Dyane Turner and family. Her life will be celebrated with services on Friday, Nov. 4 at 4 p.m. at Harpeth Hills Funeral Home in Nashville, Tenn. The family will receive friends for visitation from 2 p.m. until the service hour. Burial will be private. The family requests memorial donations be made to St. Jude Children’s Research Hospital or your local Animal Shelter.
