Flatonia Clinches First Outright District Football Title Since 1990
The Flatonia Bulldogs put an exclamation mark on their first outright district football title since 1990 with a 48-0 stomping of Charlotte Friday.
Who needs to pass the ball anyway? The Bulldogs didn’t try a single pass Friday. Instead, Flatonia rushed for a whopping 383 yards on 41 carries, led by Gabe Smith’s 128 yards.
Quarterback Corey Lyons rushed for three touchdowns, Lucas Herrera ran for two scores and Smith and San Juan Ramirez had one each.
The Flatonia defense limited Charlotte to just 35 total yards, including negative-four yards rushing.
The Bulldogs (who finished the regular season with a 6-4 overall record and 5-0 mark in district) now advance to the playoffs where they will face Woodsboro (3-7) Thursday at 7 p.m. at Runge.
