The life of Evelyn Dorothy Hassler Roitsch, 102, a life filled with caring for family and friends, will be celebrated by all who knew and loved her. Evelyn died on Nov. 8, 2016 in San Antonio. Evelyn along with her late husband Harvey, both dedicated members of Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church, reared their family in the shadow of the love of God and the grace of His Son, Jesus Christ. The essence of her kindness, an example of God’s love, inspired the lives of all who met her. She was a member of the Mary Martha Guild and helped in many ways which included quilting and assisting in compiling the bulletin each week when she was unable to physically help in other ways. Working with Amen and Second Chance were also important to her. She loved to laugh and enjoyed nothing more than a game of cards or dominoes with her children, grandchildren and great grandchildren. Playing bridge with friends through the years continued to be a high point in her life up until six months ago. The spirit of love and caring was contagious as she continued her relationships with nieces and nephews and their families. Having long telephone conversations were a precious gift in her life. She is preceded in death by her husband, Harvey William Roitsch and her parents Charles and Augusta Hassler and her siblings, Birdie Hassler, Jesse Hassler, Alice Sens, and Lola Belle Hillboldt. She is survived by her daughter Karen and husband Lee Mueller, Jr., Dorothy (Dotty) and her husband Harry Lee Vogt and son Wayne and Pamela Roitsch; her grandchildren Kevin and Fabiola Kaase, Matthew and Maria Vogt, Jeffrey and Linda Vogt, Amy and Ben Swaney, Travis Roitsch and Kelsey and Nathan Randazzo; her great-grandchildren Hannah, Riley, Maddie and Harrison Vogt, Mason, Miller, Miles, and Mateo Vogt, Teagan and William Kaase, and Benjamin and Bailey Swaney. Visitation will be held on Friday, Nov. 11, 2016 from 10 a.m. to 7 p.m. at Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home. Family will receive friends from 5 to 7 p.m. Services will be held at 11 a.m., Saturday, Nov. 12, 2016 at Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church with burial in the La Grange City Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, donations can be made to Mt. Calvary Lutheran Church Pre-School, or the charity of your choice. Koenig & Strickland Funeral Home in La Grange is in charge of arrangements.
