Goliad Teen Dies in Auto-Pedestrian Accident Near Swiss Alp Dancehall

A 19-year-old died Wednesday after getting struck by a vehicle near the Swiss Alp Dancehall, located about halfway between La Grange and Schulenburg on US 77. According to a report from Pct. 4 Justice of the Peace Dan Mueller, the deceased was Kersey Lorenzo Jones of Goliad.

The accident happened at 8:49 p.m. while a Thanksgiving-eve dance was taking place inside the Swiss Alp Dancehall. Mueller said Jones was among seven or eight people who were congregated near the shoulder of US 77 at the Swiss Alp Farm Bureau Hall, located across the highway and a short distance south of the Dancehall. 

“For some reason the young man took off running across the highway right in front of a vehicle,” Mueller said in an interview Friday morning. “The vehicle never had a chance to break. It killed him instantly.”
